Deal of the Day

Twice a year Louisville hosts a HUGE consignment sale of baby and toddler items put on by Little Treasures. I had never heard of this and was excited to see if they really did offer any good deals. After making plans to check it out with one of my friends we headed out with all the kids in tow and a list of "hope to find" in hand.

Although nothing on my list was to be found we had a blast shopping and really got some good deals. My word of advice is that you have to be willing to: dig a little, squeeze through the crowd, and wait in a LONG line but I feel it was worth the trip out. People were nice and the prices on some items were a down right steal. Most of what I bought was in the original packaging for a fraction of retail price! I was amazed at how much some people purchased as they carried out 2 sometimes 3 50 gallon tubs overflowing with toys, clothes, and other items. I felt that I could get better deals at Once Upon A Child on clothing so our shopping was shortened immensely by not sorting through it all.

*My steal/deal of the day:
Plush Bear Chair in mint condition for $17
Although Andrew may seem too small to truly sit in the chair it works great for him to lounge on and it is definitely something that will grow with him. I almost didn't buy it because of the price and I had hoped to purchase a jumper seat; however, for only $17 I picked it up and had them hold it for me so I wouldn't have to carry it around. By the time we left I was in love with the idea of it and had not found what I was looking for so I splurged. :)

I recommend any mother with a child from birth-teenager, boy or girl, to attend and be sure to bring a big bag, laundry basket, or tub with you because you'll need it to carry everything in.
Happy shopping everyone!

One Month

Andrew went for his one month doctors appointment today. I still can't believe he is 5 weeks old; there are days where it doesn't seem that long and other days where it seems much longer. The nostalgia of being a mom has yet to wear off and I've thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

With such an easy going little guy it's kind of hard to imagine why I'm still in la-la land when it comes to being a parent. The doctor today could not get over his complacent and laid back attitude. She even commented that she couldn't believe that he didn't seem to agitate easily. He did cry as the nurse was giving him the shot but he had calmed before she finished putting his band-aid on; he did such a good job! She was also pleased with how much he has grown and his over all progress.

My little porker, as I now call him, weighs 10lbs. 4oz. and is 23in. long. Although I wouldn't believe Brandon when he told me he thought he weighed that much but the scale doesn't lie. I shouldn't really be surprised given how much he eats; at one feeding he ate between 8-9oz, had a brutal case of hiccups for it, and was then promptly put in a milk coma for the next 6 hours. He is officially in size 1 diapers and sleeps a from 10PM-2AM and 2:45ish-7AM each night. He's a good eater, a good pee/pooper, and a good sleeper.

We couldn't ask for a sweeter or cuter little guy!

Valentine

Andrew made Valentines for all his grandparents and great grandparents this year. Granted we both ended up with ink ALL over us but they turned out really nice!

In a sad attempt to get Andrew's hand prints he smeared ink all over his face and chest and all over my hands and somehow all over my cheek! Printing his feet were much easier and less messy and despite the mess I had fun. I think all the great/grandparents enjoyed their surprise Valentines. :)

CRAP!

Knowing that my son can really let 'em go I gave no thought to his loud fart and obvious bowl movement this morning. He lets them rip like a real man and often times we're surprised that something so small could be so loud.

Per his usual routine Andrew began letting them go after his early morning feeding; giving small smiles after each fart. Laughing at his antics I waited till he was done before picking him up to change him. Not realizing that he had blown out his diaper with poop all over himself AND the bed I didn't immediately stop Tiko when he began frantically licking at the bed. As I picked Andrew up poop ran down his leg, all over my hand, and went all over the bed in a sudden gush. Crying out in surprise and disgust I began trying to tip Andrew in an attempt to keep him from spilling even more while trying to grab a wet wipe AND push Tiko out of the way to keep him from licking up the poop. As I tried to juggle the baby, the wipes, and the dog poop still leaked out the side of the diaper and went everywhere.

Finally coming to my senses I screamed for Tiko to get off the bed and laid the boy down to strip him of his clothes and diaper. The bed was already a mess and the sheets needed to be changed anyway so I decided to just change him there. Frustrated, I grabbed some wipes and started a sponge bath of sorts of both me and Andrew; thankfully the plan was to give him a bath later that morning anyway.

Pardon the pun but needless to day it was a "crappy" way to start my day. ;)

Welcome to Parenthood

Having spent the 3 days in Winchester last week with my in-laws by the time I was done grocery shopping on Sunday I was exhausted! It was dinner time by the time I got home and I did not want to cook. Having an ever so sweet husband he offered to take me to Olive Garden and even offered to ready a bottle for the road.

*(I'm still breast feeding exclusively, but having the option of putting that milk in a bottle has really opened up our options of activity and I LOVE it!)

When I got home Brandon unloaded the car while I put only the perishable items away so we could leave as soon as possible. While I finished up Brandon decided to change Andrew before we left. Keeping with the "we're hungry and in a hurry" attitude he laid Andrew on his lap and began stripping him down. When the cold air hit the little Mann's little man Andrew showed off his water works skills. Brandon let out a scream and quickly covered him back up. Despite his quick response pee still managed to get on his shirt and Brandon knew he was going to have to change. Letting out an exasperated sigh he waited for him to finish before uncovering the boy and continuing the process of getting him in a clean diaper. As he readied another diaper to put on him the waterworks started flowing for a second time. Brandon let out another scream and attempted to place the clean diaper over the boy; however, he did not realize that the diaper was upside down with the NON-absorbent side toward the boy thus causing pee to go EVERYWHERE. Brandon's pants were saturated and Andrew was soaked from almost head to toe. Brandon, now completely frustrated, frantically handed me the boy and asked me to handle it not realizing that he was still peeing at the time and it was dripping all over the chair and floor. Laughing hysterically, I told Brandon that I guess he'd learned never to change the boy on his lap with out protection. I took Andrew from him and headed for the nursery and the changing table pee dripping the whole way there. As I changed and readied him to go Brandon went to change and we both shook our heads at the situation; so much for getting ready quickly...

As we finally climbed in the car, 30 minutes later than we would have hoped for, Brandon informed me that pee had soaked all the way through his jeans down to his underwear and had even ran down his leg. Doubling over in laughter I exclaimed: "Welcome to parenthood!"

Come to find out Brandon even changed his socks, just in case! HAHAHAHA

That's One Happy Baby

Andrew has adjusted to being home just fine and even Tiko has come to love him as much as Brandon and I do. If Andrew is on the floor or in his chair and starts whining Tiko is immediately there checking on him, sniffing him, giving him a reassuring kiss, and letting us know that Andrew needs something.

He eats on schedule with no problems and sleeps at night with little fussing. The only time we hear a peep out of him is when it's time to eat. This kid would wear a dirty diaper for a year if we let him!

He spends his days being entertained by mommy, sleeping, and eating. He spends his nights hanging out with daddy, eating, and sleeping. Again, he doesn't fuss and doesn't require a lot of attention. He'll snuggle if you want to but is also content to just sit and take in the world around him. Needless to say he is one HAPPY baby!

Tummy Time

So much for that idea...
